You may have some questions regarding this blog...I hope this helps!
These are in no particular order.
Are you the same person as [any other deduction blogger on the Internet]?
No, this is my only deduction blog, and, in fact, at this time, my only blog. I do encourage you to check out other deduction blogs, as those bloggers have probably come up with even more ideas than I have at this point. I may have similar content, because we are talking about some of the same topics, but this blog is not based on any of that information and I will always cite sources if that becomes so in the future.
How does one get started in deduction? What's your general advice?
First and foremost: Look at stuff. Or, in more formal terms, observe. You don't have to try to make fancy deductions all the time. Just observe as much as possible, and you will be well-prepared to start deducing. Also, be curious. Ask yourself questions about your surroundings. Without your questions, it will be hard to find any answers. Why is that door open? Why is there something on that person's window? Why is there a large octopus riding a bicycle across the street? (Okay, if you asked that last one, you're probably playing a video game, watching a show, or are looking at somebody in a costume. If none of those are applicable, you should be afraid for obvious reasons.) In essence, start looking for things you're curious about, form questions, look for answers. And always, always keep an open mind.
Is this a Sherlock fandom blog?
No, this is just about deductive reasoning. There may be references to Sherlock as a well-known fictional character, but nothing about any actual television show, book, movie, play, or other related media. Honestly, the BBC Sherlock fandom kind of got me into deduction, but besides that I'm not really that into the show/plot/characters and all that so much. I've read a few of the original stories and a few book adaptations, too, and I saw a Sherlock movie that came out a few years back, so if you're wondering, I am familiar with the character but am not dedicated to one adaptation.
How do I submit cases/submit list ideas/communicate with you?
There should be a submission box at the bottom of the page, if I set this up correctly. You can also put things in the comment sections on any post.
You can send in any other questions you have via the submission box and/or comments! Please note that no personal questions about me will be answered for security reasons.
Can I repost/share/reblog/pin/otherwise show this information to a third party via the Internet?
Yes, as long as you give credit. You can quote this blog, cite this blog, screenshot this blog, link this blog, whatever, as long as you somehow indicate that it's by Sherlie Moriarty or just leave it as is. All I ask is that you don't pretend that you wrote it yourself.
Can I show this blog to my students/other group of people not on the Internet?
Yes, same rules apply.
What's your favorite color?
Red, like red velvet cake, that hourglass-shaped mark on a black widow spider, blood, and most poisonous plants. Also dark blue, because it symbolizes intelligence in many cultures and has a look of mystery to it. It kind of looks like the night sky too but that's irrelevant.
Can I do something like this?
Yes, I know I'm not the only deduction blogger out there nor the only one with my particular writing style and aesthetic. You, too, can write a blog like mine, as long as you don't copy exactly everything I've done or anything like that. All I ask is if you get more famous than me using this strategy, please cite me as inspiration somewhere along the line. Yes, it can be subtle and hidden in the wallpaper somewhere.
Do you have any other social media accounts?
Quora: https://www.quora.com/profile/Sherlie-Moriarty
I am one of ten most-viewed writers under the topic Science of Deduction (as of 7/22/16) and I also frequently write in the topics Books, Smart People, Reading, Learning New Things, and Polymaths.
Do you take drugs to improve your deductive reasoning abilities?
Somebody asked me this once, albeit as a joke, so I decided I'd put up an answer. I do not participate in nor endorse the use of recreational drugs for any purpose. Numerous studies have shown that recreational drugs destroy your mind in one way or another. Given that your mind is one of your few tools in the art of deduction, if you destroy that, you're kind of at a loss. If you need to take legitimate medicines for any reason, I certainly advise that you do so and do not experiment with dosage changes, not taking it, etc. for any reason. More about scientific safety can be found under my About/Disclaimer page.
How do you feel about the economy?
Irrelevant.
Are you a stalker?
No. See my About/Disclaimer page.
Do you have any certifications?
No. I am certainly pursuing further knowledge and experience in all the areas of study discussed on this blog but currently possess no degrees, certificates, titles, etc. As of 8/6/16 I am taking a free online psychology course, but this does not certify me as a psychologist. Once I am finished I can post the details if you are interested in obtaining this qualification yourself.
Are you writing a book?
At some point, yes. Haven't gotten around to it yet and, in all honesty, probably won't for a long time. Once I hit at least 50 posts per content area I'll start drafting. So far I have <20 (as of 8/6/16, after 13 months of blogging) so I'm thinking this is at least a year in the future.
Are you actually a detective?
Technical, official answer: No, I do not have the profession of being a professional detective. I am not employed in such a position, nor am I paid for any services fitting that extended career description.
General answer: Yes, I perform many functions of a detective in my daily life.
Do you have a criminal record?
No, unless losing a library book about pet mice at the age of 10 qualifies one as a hardcore criminal, which, in any acceptable society, shouldn't.
Are you actually a consulting criminal?
See above. Also see my About/Disclaimer page.
Are you any relation to James Moriarty?
Honestly not sure. I haven't checked my family tree lately. I wouldn't be all that surprised if I was. I'm not married to him if that's what you're asking.
Are you married to anybody?
No, I live in a palace of solitude with pet dragons and all the red velvet cake in the world.
What are your pet dragons' names?
Sebastian and John, currently. Thanks for asking.
