The Ratings System
Here are the content ratings for all third-party content on Weapons of Mass Deduction. I am posting these because I do not want anybody to get into content that they are uncomfortable with and/or not allowed to see. I don't think anything on here is legitimately not safe for work (NSFW) but that's not a guarantee. Maybe your employer just really hates Panic at the Disco or something. Also, I highly encourage anybody under the age of 13 to be cautious about anything from a 4 rating up. I know a lot of you don't care but seriously, I don't want any of you getting in trouble.
Hopefully the colors will turn out right this time:
1--Equivalent to the "general audiences (G)" rating of movies, or the "everyone (E)" video game rating, this content is appropriate for anybody to read/listen to.
They contain no bad language or adult themes and are the sort of thing
one would find in a school library or hear on the radio. They are also not very dark, just
intellectual and perhaps self-esteem-filled in the case of songs.
2--Equivalent to the "parental guidance (PG)" rating of movies, or the "everyone 10+ (E-10+)" video game rating, this content may have mild violent or sexual themes, but no bad language.
They are still the sort that would be found in a high school library or heard on the radio, but have subject matter or
lyrics that some young children perhaps should not be exposed to.
3--Equivalent to the PG/PG-13+ rating of movies or the E-10+/Teen(T) video game rating, this content has mild language and/or content in songs rated 2. With books, this means perhaps a chapter or large section with this content, or it being interspersed throughout in a few places that are still noticeable. With songs, this means either milder words, or fewer instances, such as a
"stronger" word only being included once or twice, outside of the
chorus, title, or any repeated lines. Some of these may have
clean/explicit versions.
4--Equivalent to the PG-13+ rating of movies or the T rating of video games this content has medium language. With books, this includes many mentions of adult topics and/or common swearing throughout. With songs, this includes stronger words and any words used in the chorus, title, or
repeated lines. They also may have more explicit "dark" themes. These
generally have clean and explicit versions to choose from. Many books on the topic of crime will be in this category.
5--Similar to 4, these books/songs have more
intense language, such as stronger words used more often, and themes
that are much more sexual and/or violent.
6--The 6 rating is reserved for books and songs
with explicit, very dark themes that may be triggering to some people
and not recommended for anybody under the age of 13. This generally includes graphic topics such as violence and extreme manipulative behavior.
Ultimately, it's up to you to decide what is right for you. Also, I do not encourage people under the age of 18 to disobey their parents/guardians and I do not encourage using extreme manipulative tactics as may be described in some of these books. I also know that in schools and under some governments, some of these topics may or may not be allowed.
